Thankfully though, almost every other weapon type has its place or is at least viable somewhere in the meta. In a world of Champions and Raid bosses, Machine guns currently feel left behind. Their DPS is poor for a heavy weapon, and while they have deep reserves, so much of Destiny PvE is about doing a lot of damage and doing it quickly. Besides Xenophage, which has also dropped off from its once mighty reign, it’s hard to justify running these for any reason. Lastly, Machine Guns are also in a terrible spot. Even the once-great double Slug Shotgun option that took over the Taniks boss fight in the Deep Stone Crypt has fallen away. They remain decent, but apart from some very specific builds, they are a fairly underwhelming option. They could really use some help in future patches. They are both more tricky to use and are outputting less damage than many other specials. Snipers remain in a pretty terrible place when it comes to PvE content. The new weapon type, the Glaive, is having a great introduction to the game too. They are good in just about any content in the game, and if you don't want to think about what to run, Gjallarhorn currently feels like a great 'default' option. It boosts all other rocket launchers and there are a lot of good ones out there at the moment. Rocket Launchers feel great right now, and that's all down to Gjallarhorn. As mentioned above, Golden Tricorn can be a viable option depending on your playstyle.There is no one Artifact mod that is making one type of weapon dominate the meta, and there is a feeling of versatility to the options people can run currently. Coupling this with Harmony, where final blows with other weapons improve the damage and performance of the weapon for a short duration, you can bring the hurt on nearby combatants after finishing a firefight. Given the nature of Crucible, this perk is vital as you are always on the move during a match. Perpetual Motion is a new perk introduced with the 30th Anniversary Event, which grants bonus stability, handling, and reload speed while in motion. Perpetual Motion & Harmony / Golden Tricorn.The new perk Golden Tricorn is an excellent alternative granting bonus damage for final blows with this weapon further increased by grenade and melee kills of the same damage type. Combined with One For All, which increases damage after hitting three separate targets, this weapon is an absolute red bar slayer. With Subsistence, this weapon essentially turns into a poor man’s Prometheus Lens, granting ammo back into the magazine after each kill. This weapon can roll with a few notable perks such as Subsistence, Feeding Frenzy, Disruption Break, and One For All, to name some as well as a couple of new perks like Perpetual Motion and Golden Tricorn.
